In particular, Euromedica Diagnostic Centers perform Real Time-PCR (Molecular Testing), Antigen Detection (Rapid), as well as specific IgG Antibody Testing to assess the body’s response after vaccination.
Real Time-PCR Molecular Testing: The molecular test has the highest sensitivity and specificity of all tests and is the most appropriate way to detect the virus in asymptomatic carriers. In the molecular test the sample is taken from the upper respiratory tract. The classic molecular test requires more time to perform and extract results, usually 24 hours.
Antigen Test (Rapid): The antigen test, which detects specific antigens of SARS-CoV-2, is mainly applied to patients who have symptoms, hence its sensitivity increases. A nasopharyngeal smear is obtained, i.e. the sample is taken from the nose.
Screening for specific IgG Antibodies: The antibody test investigates the immune response after physical illness or vaccination. It can be used as an additional test for patients who have become ill and already have a negative molecular test in their hands or in cases of patients who have become ill without symptoms. Blood sampling is required to perform it, since its sample is blood serum.
