Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women and at Euromedica we believe in its treatment with the appropriate means and especially with the right information for women. Early and comprehensive diagnosis, the most essential protection, is an obligation of every modern woman. Breast screening is recommended for every woman and should begin at age 40 or earlier if there is a family history of breast cancer or other risk factors. The golden triad is mammography, ultrasound and clinical examination.
In the clinics and diagnostic centres of the Euromedica Group, the latest generation of digital mammographs have been installed, ensuring the best possible image with the minimum radiation dose.
Screening tests
Breast screening refers to screening before symptoms associated with breast cancer appear. Tumours detected through screening are very small in size, thereby increasing the chances of successful treatment of the disease.
For screening, a clinical examination (palpation) every three years is recommended for ages 20 to 30, a clinical examination every year for ages 30 to 40, and an annual mammogram and clinical examination every year from age 40 onwards. To all the above and depending on the findings, breast ultrasound and magnetic resonance mammography may be added. In women with an “increased” risk of disease, screening starts earlier and is always planned in consultation with the doctor.
Screening is painless and provides early diagnosis, which in combination with the right treatment literally saves lives!
