European Prostate Cancer Awareness Day – Protect yourself

European Prostate Cancer Awareness Day has been established to be observed every year on September 15, aiming to remind all men of the importance of prevention and early diagnosis. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in Europe; however, when detected early, it can be treated with particularly high success rates. Early diagnosis dramatically increases the chances of complete recovery, while information and awareness are the first steps toward a better quality of life for all men.

The value of prevention

In its early stages, the disease often presents no symptoms. This makes regular screening essential, especially for men over the age of 50 or those with a family history. The main examinations include:

  • PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) blood test
  • Digital rectal examination by a urologist
  • Complementary imaging tests where required (e.g., Multiparametric MRI of the prostate)

Risk factors

Age, heredity, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle are some of the main factors that increase the risk of developing the disease. A healthy diet, regular physical activity, and maintaining a normal body weight can contribute to prevention.

Euromedica Diagnostic Centers are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and specialized medical staff to ensure the timely and reliable diagnosis of prostate cancer. With respect for people and their health, we stand by every man who chooses prevention.
