The Euromedica Alexandroupoli Diagnostic Center has recently undergone significant upgrades through extensive building and medical equipment renovations, as part of the Euromedica Group’s investment program. It is staffed with highly trained and experienced personnel and equipped with state-of-the-art machinery capable of performing specialized examinations with high accuracy, great speed, and low radiation dose.
Most recently, the Nuclear Medicine Department has been renewed, upgraded, and reopened. Euromedica Alexandroupoli is now equipped with a new, latest-generation Gamma Camera, offering top-tier image quality, advanced protocols, and compatibility with modern radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring clear and reliable results.
Nuclear Medicine imaging examinations (scintigraphy scans) are performed using radiopharmaceutical substances, providing solutions to complex diagnostic challenges.
All examinations are carried out by a specialized medical team with many years of experience in Nuclear Medicine. The primary focus is to ensure maximum safety (low, individualized doses for radiation protection) and high-quality care for each patient (comprehensive information at every stage of the examination).
Accurate diagnosis is the first step toward proper treatment. With our new technology, we can enhance diagnostic information across a wide range of diseases.
More specifically, our diagnostic center performs all types of scintigraphy scans, including:
- Thyroid Scintigraphy: Provides precise information for evaluating the function and morphology of the thyroid gland, with the ability to distinguish nodules as “hot” (hyperfunctioning) or “cold” (hypofunctioning).
- Bone Scintigraphy: Conducted for detecting bone conditions (cancer metastases, fractures, inflammatory or metabolic lesions). The laboratory has the capability to perform tomographic imaging for a thorough evaluation of underlying pathology.
- Myocardial Perfusion Scintigraphy: For assessing myocardial perfusion. At our center, stress testing is performed using the Bruce protocol on a treadmill, or with pharmacologic stress using regadenoson for patients with mobility limitations. Image processing is conducted with a new, latest-generation software program, offering semi-quantitative evaluation with detailed classification data for initial diagnosis or monitoring of coronary artery disease.
- Brain Scintigraphy: Tomographic images processed with innovative software, enabling quantification of striatal degeneration.
- Renal Scintigraphy: Using specialized software to determine structural and functional abnormalities, as well as to detect acute or chronic pyelonephritis.
- Somatostatin Receptor Scintigraphy: For detecting rare oncological entities.
It is worth noting that Euromedica Alexandroupoli can now also serve pediatric patients, providing care with respect, kindness, and without unnecessary discomfort, offering fast results to facilitate timely therapeutic intervention.
