Screening Packages for Breast Cancer Prevention
October is dedicated to raising awareness, promoting prevention and encouraging early detection of breast cancer, reminding every woman of the importance of regular preventive screening.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 2.4 million new cases were diagnosed worldwide in 2024. Early detection is a key factor in the effective management of the disease.
That is why prevention should not wait for a symptom to appear.
Prevention has no Symptoms. It has a Date.
October 25: World Breast Cancer Day
October 25 is World Breast Cancer Day, an important day dedicated to raising awareness about the disease, the importance of prevention and the value of early detection.
The entire month of October is internationally dedicated to breast cancer awareness, with the aim of strengthening public awareness and encouraging women to take systematic care of their health.
Prevention, however, is not limited to one day or one month. It is a habit that deserves to be part of our everyday approach to health and wellbeing.
Why is Prevention so Important?
Breast cancer can develop without causing noticeable symptoms in its early stages. In fact, many women diagnosed with the disease have no specific family history or other known risk factors.
This makes regular preventive screening particularly important.
Early detection can identify abnormalities at an early stage, before they can be detected through physical examination or before symptoms appear. Preventive screening, therefore, is not only for women who have noticed a change in their breasts, but also for women who feel completely well.
What are the main Breast Screening Examinations?
Breast screening is individualized according to age, personal and family medical history, breast density and other risk factors. Your physician is responsible for determining which examinations are appropriate and how often they should be performed.
Digital Mammography
Digital mammography is a key examination for breast cancer screening. It can detect very small abnormalities that cannot be identified through physical examination alone.
The age at which mammography should begin and the recommended screening frequency are not the same for every woman and should be determined according to current clinical guidelines and each woman’s individual risk profile.
Digital Mammography with 3D Tomosynthesis
3D breast tomosynthesis is an advanced breast imaging technique that creates detailed images of the breast in multiple sequential slices. It can be particularly useful in breast assessment, including in cases of increased breast tissue density.
Breast Ultrasound
Breast ultrasound uses sound waves and can complement mammography, depending on the woman’s age, breast density and imaging findings.
It may also be used for further evaluation of an area identified on a mammogram or during a clinical breast examination.
Breast MRI
Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a specialized imaging examination that may be used in specific cases, such as for women at increased risk of breast cancer or when there is a relevant medical indication.
It does not replace mammography for all women but is used according to medical assessment and the individual patient’s medical history.

Don’t Wait for a Symptom to Appear
A change in the breast, such as a palpable lump, a change in breast size or shape, changes in the skin or nipple, or unusual nipple discharge, requires medical evaluation. However, the absence of symptoms does not mean that preventive screening is unnecessary.
Prevention is an act of care. For ourselves, for the people we love, and for everything we want to continue experiencing in life.
This October, put prevention on your calendar.
