It is often combined with the use of a <b>contrast agent<\/b>, which is introduced directly into the bladder through a catheter, in order to better visualize its interior. CT cystography is highly accurate for detecting bladder ruptures or leaks and provides three-dimensional images of the bladder and surrounding tissues.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><b>CT cystography is primarily indicated for the investigation of:<\/b><\/p><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bladder trauma (e.g., after pelvic injury or car accident)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ruptures of the urinary bladder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vesicoureteral reflux (backflow of urine into the ureters)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perforation of the bladder after surgery or catheterization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bladder tumors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unexplained hematuria (in combination with other tests)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><p class=\"p1\"><b>Preparation and Procedure<\/b><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><p class=\"p1\">A thin catheter is inserted into the bladder through the urethra. A <b>contrast agent<\/b> is then administered directly into the bladder. The patient lies on the CT scanner, and image acquisitions are performed to assess the bladder interior and identify any leaks or abnormalities.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p>Usually, fasting is not required, unless the test is combined with other procedures. The patient should inform the doctor if they have a contrast allergy or a urinary tract infection. The procedure may cause mild discomfort due to the
