Factors such as hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, a family medical history of cardiac problems and harmful habits such as smoking, alcohol and a high-fat diet are ‘bells and whistles’ that women need to be aware of. Given that, apart from heredity, all other factors are up to us to change and control, frequent screening, from cholesterol and blood pressure levels to sugar markers, is imperative.

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a predominantly female condition – without, of course, excluding male patients – and occurs predominantly in women over 60 years of age. It is an insidious disease, since when it manifests itself, usually with a fracture, it is already very advanced. It is essentially defined as the loss of bone mass, with the consequence that the bones wear out and are at risk of fractures even after a minor injury. Its main symptoms are loss of height, kyphosis and fractures, most commonly found in the wrist, spine and hips. For a long time, however, osteoporosis is asymptomatic, with bone mass being lost without warning signs. It is precisely this asymptomatic nature of the condition in its early stages that makes screening tests of paramount importance, so that osteoporosis can be diagnosed in time before it progresses. This screening includes a series of blood tests and the measurement of a woman’s bone density .

Breast cancer

Breast cancer is directly linked to women. In fact, one in eight women worldwide is estimated to develop breast cancer at some point in her life. In addition to adopting a healthy lifestyle, an important prevention factor for this condition is systematic breast screening with palpation, mammography and ultrasound, which should start from the age of 40, except in cases where there is a history of breast cancer, in which case screening should start well before that age.

Infertility

Infertility is a challenge that more and more women are facing. Apart from its other causes, the most common reason for its occurrence is the ovulatory problems that women face, disorders that can be caused by polycystic ovaries, insufficient ovaries, weight problems, but also by intense stress. These disorders are usually manifested by menstrual irregularities, for example amenorrhoea or oligomenorrhoea. For the investigation of infertility and especially the detection of ovulation problems, hormonal testing is a valuable tool, since it provides information about the cycle, ovulation and its pathologies.

Checkups at preferential prices at Euromedicadiagnostic centres

Aware of the increased health needs of women and on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March,Euromedica Group offers preferential prices on three basic packages of examinations in all its diagnostic centres until 31 March. It thus enables even more women to check their health by having:

General blood test (General blood test , TKE, Cholesterol, HDL, LDL,
