What is StressEcho<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Stress Echo is a specialized technique<\/strong> used to diagnose coronary artery disease <\/strong>and assess cardiac function<\/strong> by imaging the heart under stressful conditions. It is selected for patients with cardiovascular risk factors (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, hereditary history, etc.) or patients with already known coronary artery disease (balloon stent, bypass, previous myocardial infarction) and is also indicated for people who cannot walk fast on an escalator or have changes in resting electrocardiogram. In fact, compared to the exercise test, this test has a much higher diagnostic accuracy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The procedure is as follows: the subject, while lying down, receives a special drug, dobutamine, through a venous catheter, resulting in an increase in heart rate<\/strong>, as would occur during intense exercise. During the test, an echocardiogram<\/strong> is performed to monitor the response of the heart, while at the same time there is a continuous recording of the electrocardiogram<\/strong>. The test takes approximately 30 minutes, but the patient remains in the clinic for a further 30 minutes until the heart function returns to normal. He then returns to his activities without any restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
